But, it is possible to argue against 3 in 1...
@PetrW
It's possible to argue against anything, if you make enough scriptures symbolic. And now, thanks to the work of Ken Johnson, there are many more ancient writings from the patriarchs who started the Israeli people that will need to be ignored in order to continue to support Unitarianism/Arianism.
When I got saved, I knew enough to know that I needed to enter into some sort of contract or agreement with Jesus. I was not fully on board with the Trinity at that time. So, I just shelved it for the time being.... neither rejecting nor fully accepting it. I then based my decision to move forward with Jesus on the scripture where he said, "All power has been given me in Heaven and Earth." I reasoned that All meant All and as such I was at the top with him... at least to the top that I was ever going to get.
After I made the deal with Jesus and accepted his offer, I knew I was saved. I knew it in my innermost being. Within about 2 months after that I knew that Jesus was God Almighty, the Creator of Heaven and Earth. It never was a fully intellectual ascent. It happened about 3am in the morning while reading the Bible. The word of God is truly alive. It is unlike any other book on earth.
Blessings to you on your journey. Here's some background on the Testimionies of the Patriarchs of the Jewish people:

PetrW,
interesting reasoning, but I see a major, almost insurmountable obstacle that if I claim that Jesus and the Father are one God, then there is a risk that I am claiming that Jesus did not die for us. God, or more accurately: part of God, would have died too.
It is more than "interesting reasoning". It is the only model that accomodates all scriptures. It was rock solid Christian doctrine for nearly two millenia until the WT filled the world with thier printing presses to the contrary.
Remember, each component of man soul-body-spirit is each YOU. The scriptures assign personhood using pronouns to each component separately.
In other words,
I am a soul (identity) and I have a soul (component)I am a body (identity) and I have a body (component)
I am a spirit (identity) and I have a spirit (component)
In the case of Jesus his spirit is the same essence of God
Jesus is Spirit/God (identity) and he has Spirit/God (component)
The personhood goes both ways - Jesus is God and God is also Jesus.
"shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. " (MEV)- Acts 20: 28
The Christian God bleeds.

“This is my son the beloved. Listen to HIM,”
by Fisherman inthe apostles and early christians suffered and died resulting from listening to jesus and jesus said this would happen.. but is listening to jesus the same as direction from the gb based on interpretation of the bible, for example, in medical treatment or other directions?
a christian could expect death or injury resulting from listening to jesus but should this validate possible erroneous understanding of the bible?
we know that peter was executed because of his christianity and so was jesus by the way.

Obviously, a Christian doesn’t go to a battlefield.....that clearly violates the Bible.
Fisherman,
It most certainly does not, the opposite is true. Are you not capable of generating even one biblical concept instead of regurgitating WT dung? This garbage that you are saying is "obvious" is utter poison. Your unbiblical cowardice and personal failure to confront evil is the most sure fire way to get your family, neighbors and countrymen killed. Evil must be opposed militarily. It won't stop unless people that are not like you oppose it. It is the expressed will of God!
Government does not bear the sword in vain... he is God’ minister to you for good....to execute wrath on him who practices evil. (Romans 13:4)
Goverments are imperfect, but all the same they are God's minister. God will sort out the ramifications of his institutions.
You are advocating opposing an institution of God, his minister, while at the same time claiming to obey God's "obvious" will. You are utterly deceived and probably should be imprisoned to keep you from hurting yourself or others. Your mind is broken. Go sit in a decent bible-believing Church for a few years and decompress like all former JW-but-now-current-believers had to do. The local church was left by Jesus as a service to people just like you and me. You should avail yourself to it. Jesus didn't leave behind the internet, he left the church. Stop ignoring another one of God's institutions.
But how about in other matters of life and death, how do you know you are listening to Jesus?
Stop adding, twisting or otherwise ignoring Jesus words. Read the bible like you would any other book. The answer is in your own question silly.

That's another good example of a seeming contradiction Remember the biblical definition of personhood: Each component of man is identity - individually or collectively.
"I and my Father are one". - they share one spirit essence (which is omnipresent), one identity
vs.
" I am He who testifies about Myself, and the Father who sent Me testifies about Me.”
So, are they one or two? Both.
Jesus is not Jehovah. They are constituted differently. Jesus is body soul and spirit. That means he fits the biblical definition of a man. But, Jehovah is Spirit ONLY. He doesn't have a body or soul. But since he and Jesus share the SAME ESSENCE, there is only ONE God here, not two.
All scripture is inspired. The model of things we adopt as well as our definition of terms must accomodate ALL scriptures, not just some.
The Lazy man waves his hand and simply labels something "symbolic" he doesn't understand or doesn't want to understand instead of adopting a model that accommodates all scripture. Here's another seeming contradiction for those still clinging to a WT model:ALL POWER has been given me in heaven and earth (speaking as God)
vs.
The Father is greater than I (speaking as Man)
Jesus has a name above EVERY name ..... that includes Jehovah. Jehovah isn't slighted by the fact that the name of Jesus is higher than the name of Jehovah, because it's still him. And because of this, it is at the name of JESUS that every knee in earth AND heaven will bend.
When you start to grasp the biblical model, you start to get a grasp of the magnitude of exactly what happened to a little Jewish boy who was born in an insignificant town barely on the map some 2000 years ago.

Obviously, God did not anoint himself.
Fisherman,
Which is easier to do, annoint yourself or raise yourself from the dead?
Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. - JN 2: 19No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. - JN: 10: 18It was predictions of raising himself from the dead like these that atttracted tens of thousands of othodox Jews right in the heart of Judahism ....... Jerusalem. He said he would resurrect himself and then he did it. Hundreds of people saw him for over a month afterwards. This is the heart of Christianity... it was something only this big that could have started something new. For believers, it was like finding the fountain of youth.... a man who claimed to be God resurrected himself from the dead. It doesn't get any bigger than that.So again, Which is easier to do, annoint yourself or raise yourself from the dead?I was a 4 th generation JW, regular pioneer who was regularly conducting 8-10 home "bible" studies per month. So, I was an expert at defending all of the Watchtower's doctrines. To do so, I had to only focus on certain scriptures and ignore others, just like you.But the heart of my problem wasn't picking and choosing certain scriptures, it was choosing to stick with WT definitions of terms like "death", "resurrection" etc. that kept me in the WT jailhouse.
The problem is that JW's (and some XJW's) refuse to accept a biblical definition of certain terms.1 Thess. 5: 23 and Hebrews 4: 12 gives the tri-partite biblical definition of man. In the bible, each of the componets are "YOU" individually, or collectively. Jesus, while fully man like us with 3 parts, had a Spirit of the same essense as the Almighty.. This explains why he at times spoke as a man and at other times spoke as God..... because he was both, not just one of the other. Each seemingly contradictory statement ("the father is greater than I am" vs. "I will resurrected myself from the dead") becomes technically correct and understandable using a biblical definition as shown in the chart below and described in 1 Thess. 5: 23 and Hebrews 4: 12 :Link +2 / -0 -

Maybe he's just another "quack" christian.
I hear what you are saying Reason First. Pensacola Christian College, Dallas Theological Seminary, Liberty University are some of the top learning centers that come to my mind for othoodoxy. But, there is just no one doing what Ken Johnson is doing. He's got Jewish Rabbis hanging out in his circle of friends trying to learn stuff from him. His research is that unique.
I think he has converted several Jews to belief in Jesus as Messiah. Many of the Dead Sea scrolls have only been translated in the last decade or two. I've been listening to his channel for 7-8 years. Haven't heard anything to conflict with sound doctrine yet.
A lot of ex-JW's end up at a Calvary Chapel Church because of their simple preaching from the bible. They start in Genesis and go to Revelation then start over again. Takes about 3 years or so for a cycle. -

Excellent post KalebOutWest!
Jehovah chose show the innermost virtue of love and self sacrifice to all of creation through the personhood of Jesus.
It is overwhelming. True, he could be rather nasty to those that challenged him on occasion. Kings tend to do this even if slow to anger. But the heart of the Lord is not his might, nor his wisdom, nor his justice… but his love.

Jesus is the only begotten son. All the scriptures are inspired, and as such they all are true. Picking and choosing certain scriptures and ingnoring others is not honoring ALL the scriptures.
BTTT,
The Scribes and the Pharisees ignored (as they do now) the scriptures and other patriarchal writings that didn't fit in with the conclusions they came to in their elders meetings. Ther oral tradition was the lens they looked through to interpret the scriptures.
The Essenes were different. They honored the wiritings of the Patriachs as well as the scripture canon. Because of this, their theology was much more favorable to accepting Christ when he appeared. That is why Jesus critized the Scribes and Pharisees but not the Essenes.
I believe the Essenes disappeared from history because they all became Christians. The Pharisees and Sacucees are still here.Link +1 / -0
